Independent Living

We offer homes for independent living to singles and couples. Northbourne Park has 70 individual homes set amongst lawns and landscaped gardens to maximise individual privacy. Land is available to construct 60 further residences.  Residents are responsible for the security of their own home.

The Park has a network of well-lit and signed public streets and all the residents feel safe within the Northbourne Village.

Residents can choose to manage their own garden or enjoy the garden maintained by the Village Maintenance Team. A community vegetable garden is also available for use by the residents.

The Don Dickenson Community Centre offers the opportunity to access free wifi, a well-stocked library and participate in indoor games and activities, which is run by the Social Committee, the Northbourne Residents’ Society. It is also utilised as a meeting venue for the Scottsdale community.

Medical Services

The General Practitioners Office is 100m from Northbourne.

Scottdale’s Northeastern Soldiers Memorial (NESM) Hospital is only 250m from Northbourne


Respite and Palliative Care Services are available from the May Shaw nursing home facilities and NESM hospital respectively.

Day care centre.
Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Radiology Services & Dental.
Ambulance Services are provided by Ambulance Tasmania and volunteers.
The Dorset Rover bus provides transport for residents shopping in Scottsdale on Fridays.

Transport - Scottsdale / Launceston Return (plus other surrounding areas)

For retirees not able to drive, a personal transport service to Launceston is available as an 'assisted trip to the city'. For a small cost you can be assisted by a carer to visit any facilities in Launceston.

Register with Community Transport Services Tasmania 1800 781 033 for out of area transport, which also include a variety of excursion days.

Sainty’s Bus Service is a commercial bus services, which runs daily.
